Default Captured Meteor Strike During the Eclipse

I popped in on my break this afternoon and saw this thread: Meteor strike on moon during eclipse

Hmm. I distinctly remember, while watching my current capture running on my laptop, of seeing a little bright flash pop up on the laptop screen and quickly disappearing. I thought that was rather odd as I've watched many a lunar capture and have not noticed anything like that before. I chalked it up to some cam/cable/port/PC anomaly. I briefly entertained the thought of it being a meteor strike, but after a silent chuckle I put that notion aside.

Well, lo and behold, there was that thread and that immediately brought my little flash to mind.

According to various sources, it occurred at 0441 hrs. UTC. Checking my data from Sunday evening, I kicked off a capture (SER video file) at 04:40:58 UTC, or 22:40:58 local time. Sweet.

I opened the vid in Autostakkert and started thumbing frames. Sure enough, there was my little flash and in the right spot. Awesome!

I culled out 20 frames encompassing the flash and used PIPP to build an animated GIF out of it. Watch the southwest quadrant on the Moon and you'll see the flash. The flash was prominent in one frame and fading in the next. By the third frame it was gone.

    An incredibly lucky catch!

I changed to my Windows 10 machine and it worked like a charm on the astrobin version. Still errors on one drive, though.

    Congratulations on a great observation!

Back on the Mac, it works first time only and only if you click to astrobin.
To repeat have to go back and navigate again / refresh.
