Default A More Tame M78 in LRGB

    Hello,

Thank you all for the kind and encouraging comments on my first crack at M78. Here is a rendition that I am much more happy with.

    M78

    4hrs 15mins LRGB

    Scope: WO Star 71 Gen-II (f/4.9)
    Camera: ZWO ASI1600MM Pro @-20° C, Gain: 75
    Filters: Baader LRGB
    Resolution: 2.26"/px
    Mount: Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro
    Guiding: ST-80 w/Lodestar X2 (SBS) on ADM MiniMax, PHD2
    Capture: SGP
    Processing: PixInsight

Marius' recent image of this target is what really inspired me- the smoothest M78 image I had seen to date. In keeping with that, post-processing this time was very light-handed, in hopes of a softer and more natural-looking result.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques and wisdom welcome and appreciated.

    Mike

EDIT: ONCE AGAIN I forgot that it's 2019
