Default First attempt with my new DSLR

I have always been interested in space and I’ve taken a few decent moon pics with a smartphone attached to a cheap telescope. But I’ve decided to make it a hobby and bought a DSLR to take some better quality photos. I’ve still got loads to learn on the use of the camera and the editing side but here is a pic from my first clear night earlier in the week, taken with a Canon EOS 200D and enhanced in Lightroom CC on my IPad. Got a few other from the same night.

We are unable to post images directly at the moment due to some site updates that went a bit crazy
Others will be able to explain a couple of work around that will let you post them.

Refractors kick arse precisely because they don't hide behind excuses. That is, they have no obstructions to hide behind.

If you have a Google drive or Dropbox account, put your image there. Tell it to share the image which will give you a unique link to that image, copy that link and on your post in the Forum use the link button that looks like a globe and paste that data into the link pop-up window.

See if that works for you,

Some light pollution on my photos but there are places nearby here I can get dark sky (or buy a filter). I live in Carlisle in Cumbria.

The sky is not black, it is varying shades of gray. You over stretched all 3 of your images on the black end and are clipping off some of the dark data. While your white end can take some more stretching. When stretching, you want to stop before either end of the histogram hits the ends (black or white).

By the way, you caught M31 Andromeda Galaxy.
