    Default A Little Crab...

    Just getting my woodshedding done...

SV102T, AVX, ZWO ASI174MC planetary cam, 30×45s lights, darks, and bias. Stacked with DSS, processed with StarTools.

I really need to start guiding, I suppose. Just need a guide scope. Actually, I probably have a guide scope already around here somewhere. I've got so many frics and fracs around here I'm sure I can come up with something.

That looks great! Your polar alignment must be spot on! Do you drift align or use the polar alignment tool on the avx hand controller?

Refractors kick arse precisely because they don't hide behind excuses. That is, they have no obstructions to hide behind.

    Very nice Image!

Great job Bryan! You really got a nice set of 45 second subs. Did you have to discard many?

Your stars look good too. Are you using ASPA or drift aligning?

I should have tried 45 second subs instead of pushing to 60 seconds with my AVX. I believe that pec is trashing a good percentage of subs at 60 seconds. Hopefully I won’t have to go that way since I just received the mmag. Set it up on the scope inside the house tonight to make sure that the camera and mount (Celestron ascom) played well and they did. Glad I got the helical focuser as Steve suggested. Hope to get it out in the daylight tomorrow.

Great M1 buddy! Keep up the good work! Very nice color!

    Thanks,
    Jim

Yeah, at 60s, I am getting periodic error as well. I need to work on that.

I've been doing 30s, so on this night I thought what the heck, let's try 45s. Worked out ok.

On this particular image, DSS stacked all darn 30 of them. I didn't have to toss out any. Still a bit noisy. I really need to incorporate some flats but I am being lazy and haven't many any in a while. I've still got the cam in the scope so I can do it when I get a round 'tuit.

That was a manual polar align, BTW.

I've also done M's 36, 37, 38, 35, 41, 81, 82, and 33. Coupled with the other Messier objects I've done already, I might have to put in for the M40 Photo award soon.
