    Default The Pleiades (M45)

This is my first attempt at the Pleiades, and I would really have preferred to shoot this from our dark sky site, but with the weather the way it's been I decided to stop waiting and just do it from the back yard.

Very nice! Thats an impressive set of gear you have.
I see you used 100 bias files for you QHY camera. Is this the recommended amount ? Or do you have a master bias file already which you can use? I have a dSLR, so don't take so many bias files.

Thanks! I took those 100 bias shots and 30 darks at the beginning of the year and created a master bias and master dark that I've used since then. I only take flats for each session. As far as the number of bias frames, the more the better for creating a master bias. I think after 100 the gains are minimal, and taking 100 bias frames doesn't take that long and since I only do it once a year or so, it's not a problem.

Really nice Gabe - I like how you brought out a lot of the faint blue nebulosity without over processing.

Yeah, I was going to say. It's similar to your just posted Horsehead -- the detail in both shots is excellent.
