    Default M1, M2, M33- quick captures



    Hello!

    My latest captures with planetary cameras:
    -M1 with GPCAM290C, Meade 4000 narrowband nebular filter. 100x30sec, gain 30, captured as RGB24(tif); Scope- newt 150/750
    -M33- GPCAM290M, L_80x30sec gain 15 (150 frames ruined by clouds), RGB 40x15sec, bin2x2; Scope 80mm apo @ F3.6
    -M2, L- 220x10s gain 10; RGB 150x8s, bin 2x2, Scope- 80mm apo @ F4.7

    Very impressive Marius!

    That puts an end to all these "short exposure" counter-arguments for sure. Your exposures are very short indeed taken with a relatively cheap imager that has a small 8-12 bit well depth, then DSS boosts the dynamic range by stacking. Very cool and clever, with great results!

    I now need to look into those Altair cams, both C and M like what you have but I will first see what I can get on M33 with the Mak-Newt and Fuji this season. When I say sub-standard I mean that in a positive way (just the well depth) because in all other regards those Altair devices look pretty versatile and nimble.
