Default My Mars Shot for July

When I shot Jupiter last month I had trouble getting many frames. I had to tinker with it. I was using FireCapture. This month I tinkered with SharpCap and had the opposite problem. I think I must have captured too many frames or something. Anyway, I couldn't get Auto Stakkert to open my video file. I used PIPP to slim down the video and AS opened it just fine. I then brought it into Registax for sharpening and finished off in PS Elements. By the time I was finished there my file size went from GB's to KB's, lol. This is what I came up with.

    Telescope: Celestron C8 (orange tube)
    Mount: Orion Sirius
    Camera: ZWO ASI 120 MC
Processing: Just about every program I own.

I like it, well done. I am having a difficult time toning down the brightness AND maintaining a good focus. BUT I could be using the wrong scope (long focal length) with a ZWO ASI120MM and SharpCap (2.9 and 3.0)

Hi Rob. A very nice Mars capture from you here. And, you have some very nice color on this image. Sometimes I when import a SharpCap bundle into RegiStax 5.2 or DL Essentials, it gives me fits too. So you did a fine job with this work. Thanks for sharing this with us Rob, and the best of regards.

Sometimes I think the challenges are half the fun (and most of the annoyance). If we could aim a point and shoot at a planet and come up with a good picture the hobby would lose at least part of its attraction. Whether it is imaging or visual observing we are always stretched to hew horizons.
