    Default Sun Ha June 4, 2018 Prom on NW limb



    Rule #6 for solar imaging is to never let your histogram clip on the right side when shooting proms. Did I listen? No!

    This one actually looked a lot better that I captured. Oh well.

    I always see things in the proms (like clouds). In this case, a group of ghosts trying to chase off a pack of trick-or-treaters.

    John may correct me, but I asked the same question about another photo. Assuming this is the same 7arcmin scale, that prom would be something like 30,000 km high (2.5 earth dia)! And... that would make it a “small” prominence.

    And, once again, great image, John! I really appreciate all you solar guys showing the rest of us what we’re missing, ‘cause I’m not pointing my scope at the sun!
