Default M16 and a screw up!

Took 40 / 3 minute images only to find out that I had forgotten to set the camera to take RAW's (used it recently to take some wedding shots and didn't need RAW for that). All images were saved as JPG! As such they have a bunch of artifacts and of course no calibration frames. I didn't want to waste the images so I processed them anyway. I got a little heavy with the NR. Won't make this mistake again! 120mm EON refractor, Canon T3i DSLR.

Nice save, JJ. Given that you started with a bunch of jpegs, the result looks surprisingly good.

    Ouch!!
I've been there. A few weeks ago I accidentally left the teleconverter on my 500 mm f/5.6 lens. This is my bird pictures setup. That, along with the cropped sensor camera, put me over 1200 mm @ f/9. My Stellarvue is 910 mm at f/7. I shot the entire night without noticing.
It pays to double check your imaging equipment prior to imaging.

That image is really good even as it is.

And it is an easy mistake to make.

That's a real shame. Your guiding looks terrific with nice round stars. Hopefully you will get more clear skies.

Sorry about your misstep. We've all been there in one way or another. On a happier note your image proves that although .jpegs are not the preferred format for AP sub frames, they aren't a total waste either. Nice recovery, very nice image.

    Cheers,
