    Default Space is Listening!

My streak of clear skies continued again last night. This is 5 in a row for me. After some initial guiding issues at first I was finally able to dial things in and get consistent 20 minute exposures again using an old Meade OAG, R/C and DSI mono pro. It has opened up so much more detail in my images and is really showing how this old USA made C8 shines as an imaging scope.

NGC 6888 The Cresent or "Ear" nebula has always been a favorite and on my imaging wish list for quite a few years now. It reminds me of a floating brain in space.

This one was done the same as the Tulip Nebula I posted yesterday. Hutech spectrum enhanced Canon T5i, 8-1200 second exposures @ ISO 800, 15 darks abd about 20 bias frames. Stacked Mosaic and Median method in DSS using the in camera custom WB I've done. After a basic edit in DSS I saved a tif and then into PS for some levels and curves and then I used Camera RAW to tweek a bit.

Please let me know your thoughts as to the final results here. As always your comments and ideas really help me become better at this craft. Many thanks to all and look up!

Chris - good to hear your run of skies is continuing. Nice Crescent! Is there any chance there is more data hiding in the central section? I thought you might be able to pull out some more with 160 of integration time.

Love the sharp processing (without being overdone), and the color mix you have going.

Very nice indeed. I enjoy working with my C8 too, though I've only had moderate "luck" with my OAG. You are inspiring me to give it another whirl. As far as the image I would expect more fainter detail considering the length of your subs. It looks like the red color channel is clipped in black, which could be destroying the low level nebulosity in the process. Long exposures will usually give you very significant unwanted signal from the sky fog mountain. I usually strive for a non-clipped left hand side of the histogram for each of the color channels to be close to vertical and aligned with each other. If you want some more suggestions, could you make your high resolution data file available for people to give you suggestions on what works to pull the detail out of the shadows?
