Default First image using Star Tools

Using a combination of the first YouTube video in the Star Tools group, and the info provided by Hondo on this forums StarTools group, I have done my first successful process in Star Tools - a reprocess of M31. Not terribly happy with the color but I love the detail the tool brings out. I will have to do more work on figuring out how to handle light pollution in Star Tools.

Thanks again to the AF forum and Ivo for the license to the tool. On day two, I am loving it

BTW, John, you have been telling me to bin my images ever since I started posting here. I used the ST bin tool as my first step in the process!

Bob that's a pretty remarkable difference and I know that M31 isn't an easy target to process which seems counter intuitive given it's so close! Really nice first stab for sure!

Glad you like ST Bob. Don't forget to use the REPAIR tool after you stop tracking. It does an amazing job of rounding out stars.
    Great job on M31.

Star Tools is pretty amazing, and I found that Scott is the man to go to with the questions on it, he helped me immensely. Great job on the reprocess. I hope you don't mind me mentioning you Scott....LOL...it is what is.

You are right, John - repair is a very nice tool - here are the results:

And to think I just bought a coma corrector!

Glenn - don't worry, Scott has already volunteered. When I figure out what to ask I will check in with him!

I stayed away from autodev - makes for a nasty orange mess and doesn't wipe well at all - I think because my LP is very high. Sharpen and deconvolution were nice tools, and contrast brought out some good detail as well. Sure is easier to work with than levels and curves

I know what you mean the first few times I used autodev my first reaction was what in the heck? It is ruined!

Autodev mostly makes it easy to see any stacking artifacts. Once you do the wipe do a regular develop resetting the stretch. But just develop will work too.

Also, when using wipe don't forget to turn on temporary autodev it can help to see if you went to far or not

Great results, Bob! Congrats again on ST. A fine improvement on your M31 image. I hope you can get some imaging time in soon so we can see what else you can do.
