    Default Lunar eclipse image

    Hi everybody,

Here is one of my better images from last night of the lunar eclipse. Taken from near Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. Cool how you can see stars so close to the full moon! Imaged with an ED100 with focal reducer and a Canon 60Da. 3 seconds at 1600 ISO.

    Nice image. Thanks for sharing.

That feel when you see beautiful pictures of the lunar eclipse but you weren't able to take pictures because you don't have a camera! XD

    Thanks everybody!

I don't know how the image I posted above ended up so small. Here is a bigger version that shows the stars a lot better. I like the star at about 5 o'clock, that is just off the surface of the moon and still clearly visible.

That is a neat picture, with the stars in there. I agree that that one star right on the edge of the moon is pretty neat to see resolve like that. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks Mrshorty and Karen!

And Karen I wish that I could say that colour is from my brilliant processing skills, but in truth I have to hand it to Canon for this one. I shot JPG because I thought I'd be shooting thousands of exposures for a time lapse. This is straight from the awesome 60Da (I see you have one too).

Yes, the 60da does great on the colors. I used a full frame camera for this eclipse to get more of the background in and I did notice a difference in the color from the 60 da. It's a great Astro camera.
