The spiral nature of this one is not obvious to me. I originally was going to label her an elliptical.

Nice John. M94 is pretty tightly wrapped and it will definitely give the impression of being an elliptical.

Images online make it look like a Space Hurricane.

Thanks Brian. I think it looks comparable to images I've seen online. There are so many I want to revisit. For now, this isn't one of them. 😙

I loved the color in this one. I will probably want to re-visit this one since it is supposed to be one of the densest globs known.

Thanks! I am working on some shots of Jupiter from the same night at the moment. Still another 3 from 5/14/15 remaining to be developed. I am wiped out from the graduation parties, moving, etc. I'm looking forward to June and getting out again. (Camping next weekend, without the scope.) As we sat next to the campfire last night, we were enjoying Jupiter and Venus as the sun was setting. It was really cool.

    Some eye candy from 5/14/15,

This is an integration of about 3000 frames from a 9000 frame .avi video. I need to figure out how to put my guide camera to work capturing the planets.

    No. 58, Spiral galaxy M98

    Taken 5/14/15, 6 x 45s subs

This one made use of Focus Magic to correct some of the star trails. I had lost track of who this was as she passed over the Eagle's Nest, so I had to do a bit of research in Sky Safari (based on the area of the sky I was surveying) and Simbad, M98. I oriented it in the position shown in the Simbad database. Below is a screen shot from Sky Safari that led me to confirm my suspicion using Simbad. The star field is a perfect match. (Surprised me a little frankly.)
    Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 11.57.53 AM.jpg

This one is a head turner and I will be making a note to revisit her in the future.
