Default a little christmas PI (m42). merry christmas.

haven't posted lately but have continued to image. got a clip-in cls-ccd filter that's allowing me to go up to 180s@1600iso which has really helped since i'm not guiding yet. on a waitlist for an at6rc so enjoying some orion widefields before it comes. only had a few clear nights this month so i downloaded the PI trial and have been experimenting with my old dss autosaves. still not sure what most of the settings mean but following some of the tutorials I was able to get this version of m42 which i'm happy with. only 2-3 hours worth so still a little noisy and i finished off the core in PS with some shorter exposures but the rest is PI. guess it's one more thing i'll need to start saving up for it's been exactly 1 year since i posted my first image (also M42). just wanted to say a quick thanks for all the help and pure enjoyment. i couldn't have done it without you and hope every hope everyone has a happy, safe (and clear) holiday.

Another nice M42. Especially nice for an unguided image with 180 sec exposures (nice alignment). Captured a lot of the nebulosity and some nice details in the shadows as well as the bright areas. Thanks for sharing.

VERY NICE.....especially unguided! Great detail, and color. Wait until you can do 5 or 10 minute subs......you'll be AMAZED!!
    Great Job!

sorry if I'm misunderstanding... I have an eq/tracking mount. I just don't have an auto guider. so I can get up to 3min exposures with a good alignment but I can't get the 5-10min subs that others can get when guiding.

here's a updated version using some files from PI but combining them in PS rather than PI since I still don't understand it very well.

Oh okay that makes more sense, I thought you weren't guiding at all and I was like "how did he possibly take that!" lol
