Default Re: Announcing the winners of the 3rd Quarter 2014 International AP contest

I just wanted to take this time to thank all of those that voted for my image, all those responsible for putting on these quarterly contests, and IVO for continuing to support these contests by providing the winners with his great APT program!

I almost feel guilty winning this quarter with my entry, when compared to the amazing image of Saturn it was up against (and that I had originally entered this image in a different category...but it was switched due to my misunderstanding of the rules).

Being able to capture this celestial event was very exciting for me. Since I initially didn't even think it would be possible (which is why I think so many elected to pass on it). I figured even if I managed to capture it (with the brightness difference, and separation, between the two objects), how would the event translate to an image (with Saturn being so small, along with so much blank space in the composition).

In the end, I was just happy to share this event captured in an image with you all, and pleased to know that many of you appreciated the effort...even if it wasn't the typical "Solar System" image normally entered in this category.

Thanks again to all those that continue to support these contests, both on the administrative side, and all those that send in their masterpieces for other members to enjoy, and vote on.

The 4th Quarter is coming up...please don't be shy about it, and join in on the fun!!!

Congratulations to the winners and to all the entrants!

I was kicking myself for missing the entry deadline. But having seen the competition I would have been up against, it is just as well that I didn't enter. All are fantastic images!
