Default Finally Caught Jupiter!! 9-4-14, 5-7am

My astronomer/neighbor Steve Franks & I had an all night session with our telescopes about a week ago.
The sky conditions were fair that evening so we stayed out until dawn.
I had to because I wanted to image Jupiter with my 127 SLT & Neximage 5 camera.
It has been a little over a year since I bought my first telescope & I was taught on the late Summer-early Fall night .
It was awesome to see the usual suspects like the Pleiades, Orion Nebula, Betelguese & Rigel in the Eastern sky to name a few.
But I've been waiting for you, planet Jupiter!
And armed with new settings & new processing schemes I made about 16 videos.
Most were about 1 minute 15 seconds with the frames per second at 52.
I believe I used the no bin mode in iCap 2.3 as well.
I processed first with PIPP to knock the frame counts down from 4,000+ to something Registax 6.1 could handle-1,200.
These are pretty much the best of the final images.
really hope Steve & I get to a local farm that we are allowed to use for viewing on Saturday, Sept. 13th as Jupiter & I have another of many appointments with views and imaging.

Thanks everyone, really hoping the skies stay clear enough to grab Jupiter against about 4:30am Sunday morning.
But it is also comforting to know Jupiter will be up sooner in the coming months too.

Great pictures! I've been trying to get some images of Jupiter also, but can't seem to find the time! Thanks for sharing. Clear skies.

Nice to see the Jupiter season is started! I really like your first one the most. The colours of the planet and background are very nice.

Do you use the RGB Align feature of Registax in the Wavelet tab prior to sharpening? That should effectively line up your RGB channels. You can see that the blue and the red are not aligned as good as they could be.

Well done. Keep up the great work.

Hi Carl. A superb trio of Jupiter images from your. Excellent contrast, and the equatorial belts show up very nicely. And, you have very good polar caps in your captures. Thanks for taking the time to put these up on here for us to enjoy Carl, and the best of regards.
