Default NGC 2467 and its embedded star clusters

The star clusters and associated nebulosity designated as NGC 2467 are located in the constellation Puppis at about -26.5 degrees declination, and they are viewed from Earth at a distance of about 20,000 light years. The star clusters Haffner 18 (left center) and Haffner 19 (upper left, surrounded by orb of nebulosity) and many foreground stars of contrasting colors make for an aesthetically pleasing target. This part of the sky, which is included within the larger area of nebulosity Sharpless 2-311, is of ongoing scientific interest as a star-forming region. The white-blue star in Haffner 18 that has a tiny cocoon of nebulosity around it is FM3060a, a very young star that is believed to be only 1 to 2 million years old.

I have to admit pushing the color saturation to the breaking point on this image. I could not resist bringing out the contrast between the star colors and the red of the nebulosity. The image has also been stretched aggressively to bring out the structure in the nebulosity and the faint details. The side-effect is unfortunately that some of the stars are quite bloated. The seeing was actually very good this night, with FWHMs of about 2.2", so the large stars are completely attributed to the processing. Perhaps some of you processing geniuses can tell me how to get tiny stars while still stretching the nebulosity to the max.

Acquisition details: Luminance 6x900s+3x900s Red frames; Red 3x900s; Green 2x900s; Blue 3x900s
C11 Edge @2730 mm and f/9.9. Other equipment in sigline.
Processing: Deep Sky Stacker, IRIS, Regim, and Noiseware.

This is a new one on me so I got my Herschel objects book out but you had more info than it did (great reporting)
You have some nice colour on the Nebula and a very interesting cluster.
Thanks for sharing and bringing something new.

Nice catch. This one is on my list as well but hard to reach because it is so low.
