    Default M20 Trifid Nebula

Still a newbie at this (going through a high learning curve!), but I thought I'd share one of my recent images.

I did this over 4 nights in August from my backyard (despite the streetlight just outside the fence).

This is a mix of ISO800 (x 60 sec) and ISO1600 (x 30 sec) shots, about 70 in total after weeding out many bad shots. Combined with about 40 darks, no flats taken. Stacked in DSS, clean up in PS.

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to get to a dark site soon - I can't wait to get better data than what I can achieve from the backyard.

Awesome! You've captured a lot of nebulosity. Only the background could be a little brighter.

Hello Lazjen. An extremely good Trifid Nebula imagefrom you. It always reminds me of a "mad cat". Excellent bi-color nebulosity and details in your capture. Thanks for sharing your picture with us, and keep up the great work.

Thanks. I think I'm going to have battles over how much can be captured using a DSLR in a light polluted location. I haven't got a light pollution filter yet, but I can see it's probably going to be needed.

Well, I didn't see the "mad cat" before, but I just had another look and I think I can see it now.
