    Default 3rd Attempt on Jupiter

Seeing, Collimation or Focus - who knows, but couldn't wrestle more detail out of this image! However the night was cold, the sky clear, and it had been the first time in over a month that I managed to get my scope out - so just happy to have something This is my third attempt on Jupiter, and no matter what I get out of it, image wise, I always leave feeling like I "know" exactly why I love this hobby.

Hey, for a third try that is dang good. So many things have to be perfect in order to get anything that it's amazing we can image it at all!

You caught some good detail in there, including the dark storms at the edge of the Northern Equatorial Belt...so well done. I try to image pretty much every opportunity I get, and the seeing isn't always ideal. Shoot when you can, enjoy being out under the stars, and thanks for sharing; I haven't been out since before Hurricane Sandy visited here on the US east coast.

I see you took the picture of Jupiter on 4 Nov (or was it 11 April? Some countries do it back to front), my avatar I took on the 2 Nov. using a celestron 8se and a nexstar Ccd camera. The black dot on it confused me at first but it is a shadow caused by Io.

Ahh yes, it's the fourth of November! Never seen a shadow cast by one of the jovian moons, would love to catch that

Telescope is the Meade LX90 8", 2x Barlow and used the Orion StarShoot Solar System Imager IV (glorified webcam imo!) Only ever seen Jupiter through it, REALLY can't wait to see Saturn
