The 1st picture was my first attempt... (Venus)

After review, I was in trouble. Then I found DSS, the second picture was my next attempt. (Vega)

Until I get a telescope, this will be all I can do... but the practice should be good for me.

    Canon 60D, 200mm APO 2.8

I'm going to keep dreaming!!! One day the scope will come true.

Very nice shots.....as long as you have the passion to do this, you'll do fine. A scope will come, just take your time and decide what you need for your interests......good work.

Great start, Venus is a tough one because it's so bright, and Vega isn't much dimmer. Try some Messier clusters to work out exposure times and ISO settings, it's fun. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work, it'll keep you out of trouble at night...

    Clear skies,

My biggest problem is do I get something like the Orion Atlas 10 EQ-G ($1,800) or wait for a Celestron 1100HD ($3,500). To many choices... I want something now, but is the wait really worth it?

I have no experience with either of those, but the wait is ALWAYS worth it.

ALso, what camera did you use?

You don't need an enormous scope - just a very good mount.
You can even get away with a quite ordinary mount like mine if you persevere
