Hi, having had a few coma issues with my Canon T2i I seem to have managed to correct the coma corrector spacing and now I'm getting better images. So here is this years attempt at M27. I shot 10 subs at 3min and 4 at 5min, and I think I even managed to catch a hint of the extented nebulosity, outside the main core area?
All processed in PixInsight.

Great job! Love the starfield colors, you did nice job preseving them. Are you shooting modified camera? Very nice details showing in the core!

I sure do loves me a pixinsight processed picture... especially one done by someone who knows how to control that beast of a software. great job, the star colours really stand out.. from using star masks and luminance masks?

Hi, Wow guys thats some quick responses there!!
Jeff - Yes my Canon T2i has the Baader Filter fitted by Hap Griffin
Trev - I did use a Star mask and a Range Mask, as well as ATWT for noise, plus histogram masked stretch, curves, etc. I have been thinking of using PixelMath to subtract a Star mask from a Range Mask to just leave the Target object, seems like a plan?
Clear Skies and thanks for looking![]()

sounds similar to my workflow, but i've never thought to subtract the star mask from range mask, seems like it's worth a shot, and I'd be interested in see the results. I've also never thought to do a masked histogram stretch.... I think you just turned the lightbulb on in my head for stretching my target object, without overly stretching the background noise....OH man, guess who isn't sleeping tonight....![]()

I read on the forum by one of the developers, he suggested using the Auto STF, then create a clone by dragging the image icon, drag the STF to the histogram bottom bar and the histo gets the STF parameters. Then apply this to the clone, then apply the clone to the original image as a mask. Then do a histogram stretch, eithe via the Auto STF or do your own, it works really well, adn is very quick once your used to it.

PS I think I got this from the Hints and Tips section on the PI Forum
yup, that's the same technique I use to make a quick mask for other modules, just for some reason it never occured to me to use it with a histogram. that technique has saved me lots of time and energy. I'll give that a go on my troubled M31 set I've been working on, do you think it will help with the background noise before I start doing atrous and acdnr..?

Wow, she looks incredible. How large can you print out the picture without losing any detail?
