    Hey all,

I was able to get out of the city and up to some dark skies last weekend with my family. Unfortunately the moon was up and near-full so the sky was really bright and the milky way was completely washed out. But that didn't stop us from setting up our new scope and mount and firing off some frames.

PHD was guiding really well but after about 20 minutes the wind started to pick up and we were getting some trailing in our subs. We continued to take photos for another 30 minutes just for the hell of it, so we'd have something to stack when we got back home.

This photo still needs a lot more data as the background is well, plain ugly. But hopefully over the next few months we can take some more shots and get something like 3 hours total exposure.

But for now I figured I'd share it with you.

OK, you go ahead and say that background is ugly - I'd kill (or at least severely maim) to have a nice dark relatively even background like that. Oh and the galaxy is nicely done too!

    Thanks all

Maybe I did over-exaggerate a bit, this is the best photo we've taken so far and I'm very happy with it. I have always struggled with getting a nice even background and the horizontal bands/bars just drive me nuts, I just cant get rid of them!
