    Default M41 - Open Cluster

Last night I went out again with my little ETX-80 for some AP. It's been nice and clear here lately, so i'm trying to capitalize on the good weather.

I decided to take darks, flats, and bias frames as well this time and i'm hooked. I don't think i'll take any more AP with out making time for those frames. I think this is my best, least noisy pic to date... the focus needs some help, but i think the processing turned out great. Working it over in photoshop is a lot easier if you don't have to fight the noise...

I did notice that some of the brigher stars in the cluster seem to have a darkened halo around them inside their glow...? I'm not sure where they came from, it may have been my focus, or some setting i tripped in DSS... even so, i'm pleased with the results.

    Great picture!
I am not that advanced with my scope that I can take pictures yet. I am just a novice
in astronomy. I am still learning how to use my scope and how to identify what I am looking at! I really do admire the pictures everyone shows. It is something I look forward to doing in the future. Keep posting, love looking at the work you guys and gals do!

That's really nice - I noticed the halo you mentioned. Seems like condensation or something
    on the corrector plate.
Try binning, I beleive that may clear it to an extent.
