Default My First Picture Stacked with DSS, I'm Thrilled.

This past week I been trying my luck at taking some pictures of the Orion Nebula. My first ones this past weekend were ok and I learned a lot, now I'm hooked. Monday night I took a few more shots using my Orion 80ED and Nikon D200. Overall I was happy with my second attempt. So last night I downloaded DSS and stacked 7 shots. I was thrilled with the outcome, though still have a long way to go. Need to work on learning photo shop so I can really bring out some more detail and color. I'm thinking about picking up a Canon with live view. Seems like it would make focusing a little easier. Can't wait to get back out and try again.

    Clear Skies,
    Tom.

A big Congratulations! - that's quite a learning curve you've accomplished - as far as the post processing - each object has it's own 'workflow' and that's where the fun ends... just kidding. I'm wondering, to help other along if you could post formats and conversions you used that you found helpful, esp the DSS settings?

Congratulations.... Feels good to get everything working and that first shot. What were your exposure times and what ISO did you use?

Before spending a lot of money on a new camera just to get live view, why not go to eBay and buy an inexpensive 3x right angle finder for your Nikon? The extra magnification will help you get a focus and the right angle will make viewing through the finder much easier.
