    Default My first attempt at astrophotography



    Hello forum members:

    After reading various helpful tips on this forum I tried my hand at taking a photo thru my telescope.

    My telescope is a handmade 10" f / 6.4 dobsonian.

    Photo was taken afocal hand held with telescope looking thru kitchen window.

    Camera is an Olympus c-5050.

    I have always enjoyed looking at the moon and thought I would give it a go with camera and scope.

    I hope you enjoy the photo.

    I like your first attempt. By the looks of the picture you have a great telescope, too. I'd love to see a post on it's making (with photos if you would).

    I just started afocal photography and realized that the learning to take some decent pictures like that can be pretty frustrating. I have an eight inch dob and I am going to keep trying. With respect to taking moon pictures, Hernando gave some very useful tips here:
