Sorry, didn't make it clear, I used Pixinsight for the second edit and CS3 for the original picrure. I won't be using CS3 again, PI is much better I think.

Sorry, from one newbie to another - What's primary focus imaging?

The numbers of lights show the number of pictures taken and at what exposure time. ie 17 images at 120 seconds. The darks is the same principle, but with the lens cover on. It helps balance out noise and hot pixels.

Very nice. I would love to produce something like that. Beautiful.

    For the newbies
A light frame is one where the camera is exposed to the target - in this case the Galaxy
A dark frame is one where the lens is covered - this gives a sort of base to allow the software to work from a clean palate.
If you subtract the pixel charge values of the dark frame (which contains hot pixels and ampglow etc) the light frame will be more purely light from the Galaxy.
The 12 x 120 and so on are the number of frames by the time of exposure

Thanks for your comment. I am very new to this, so I am finding it all very exciting. This is only my 3rd image. I have about 1.5 hours more data to add to this one, and looking at getting some more when I get a clear night.

I need a better mount before I can approach anything near what you have achieved!
I do have a wedge, but I haven't tried it yet - there's no easy way to get close to southpole - drift will get you there, but I've never tried it yet - and the opportunities this last six months have been barely enough to warrant getting the thing out at all.
It's been the wettest in Queensland EVER in the last 12 months and the sun has been out for almost no time at all - and clouds!!! babe you never saw clouds until you've been here - we've got an area in Queensland twice the size of Texas under water at the moment (I mean that literally- Queensland is bigger than Europe)
