Default best/cheapest eq mount for dSLR?

    Hi folks,

I'm going to be buying a Canon EOS 60D, and I'm hoping to do some astrophotography with it (just so folks know, I'm not a total newbie, I've been an amateur astronomy buff for many years now).

The types of photography I want to do would only be wide-field shots, the moon, Milky Way, perhaps some closeups of M31 with a 200mm lens, etc. I've already done some star trails and so on with my old dSLR on a fixed tripod.

Basically, what I'd like to know is: Is there an inexpensive (say, $200-$300 or so) tracking mount that I could use to do 4-5 minute exposures? As a caveat, it doesn't have to be a "perfect" mount that produces razor sharp stars or anything like that....just something I can fool around with and prevent the stars from coming out as arcs. The only other requirement is that it would need to be motorized.

Does anyone know of anything that would fit the bill? Would the cheapo Orion mounts suffice for the limited purpose that I need the mount for?

    Thanks!

Good mount is not likely to fit your bill. For your camera it can be EQ5 PRO - (EQ3 PRO at least), which will cost about twice of what you are ready to spend. But if you wanna have a taste of it - a DIY barn door tracker will be ok - and for a fraction of 200$ mark.
