    Default My first guided images

    Hello,

Between last new Moon and first quarter, I finally got into auto guiding and used two weekends to gather data. The main target was NGC 7023 - the Iris Nebula, but also managed to get some, I hope not bad, images on M45 (the first guided one), on the Horse Head area and NGC3184. I want to add more data on the Iris one, but looks like there will not be a chance soon and decided to share the results so far.

    NGC7023 - 4h 24 mins:

    M45:
    M45_frame_small.jpg

The 'Big four' in Orion belt:
    IC434_frame_small.jpg

    NGC3184:
    3184_2_frame_s.jpg

All images are guided with modified SPC900NC, but I don't plan to have a next session with it. It is hard to find a guide star During the last night I lost around 2 hours to find a target with bright star close to it. Today arrived my DSI I pro, which hope to solve my problems

Please, let me know you comments and suggestions!

Fantastic images...I have a guider myself(unused at the moment) but I have always thought how do you guide if you have no guide star near the target you wanted to image...
    But really lovely images Ivo.

    Thanks Declan!

If your guider is sensitive you will have such situations quite rarely. I was with a friend on these session, who used DSI II-C. On M1, my camera spotted only one star (but clouds limited the total to 30 mins ). On the next evening no matter how tried to find the same guiding star there was no success On his monitor there were 3-4 stars to choose in the very same region...

Very nice. My only advice; keep doing what you're doing...it seems to be working well.
