    Default Wee bit o' imaging

Had a wee play with ol' Luna on the 30th Aug. Nothing fancy , too darn bush wacked doing the garden.

Anyways here's three images taken with the EOS450D and the C80mm at prime, oh , I added a barlow first two with a 2x and the last with a 5x TV.

    Hi Pete,

You managed to catch a nice image of Tyco & Clavius area. I've never used a 5x barlow but I'm guessing getting focus is really difficult! lol

Look forward to seeing lots more of your images now the "new season" has started.

    All the best

    Carol

Nicely done Pete, very crisp with lots of detail. I look forward to the next several months as the moon rises higher up out of the pollution and sky crud...it's the lunar imaging season!

Nice pics. you might want to look at getting your sensor cleaned though, the dust is starting to show.

Nice, you are right down in there in the craters. And your moon isn't made of "green cheese" like mine has been lately.

    Cheers folks.

Carol , with the new season almost upon us , the Obsy sorted and the gear properly sorted it should be fun times ahead. Aye , 5x is challanging most times. From now on I will more than likely use the notebook pc with Utilities to check focus, image looks ok on live screen but seems soft on lappy.

Brian, I can't wait to get the C9.25 out on the Moon ( and Jupiter ! ) Need to collimate it first though. Doing that when its installed in the Pier Obsy. Moon was still very low that night when I took these. Couple of months time it should be sitting just right for us.

Antonio, yes focus needs more practice. Thanks for the link but I have and will be using the QHY5v for better detail and in conjunction with notebook , should manage ( fingers crossed ! ) to get way better focus. That night was just a quick and dirty effort.

Jason . aye there is crud there but actually ( thankfully ) not on the sensor . Its in either the diagonal or the 2x barlow. That said I do have one dust bunny onthe sensor . Awaiting some wet swabs for sensor cleaning.

Al, I am really hoping to get some better detail of the smaller craterlets in Clavius this season. The C80mm wont cut it but the 2350mmfl SCT should , with careful focus via the QHY5v.

Can't wait to back into the swing of things imaging wise , tis been many many months since I have done any proper imaging.

    Clear Skies

    Pete
