Default Jupiter & moons - single frame DSLR shot

    Hi all

I thought that I'd put this one up here as well. It is an image of Jupiter and her moons that I took back in September 2008, way prior to the latest changes to her surface.

It is a single frame (not stacked) taken by my Nikon D40 DSLR @ ISO800 for 0.25sec at prime focus on a Takahashi FS-102 and Televue 5X PowerMate. Seeing was exceptionally good from my suburban Sydney back yard that night.

I'll say! That is spectacular clarity and detail for a single frame.

I looked at the image before I read your post...I thot the S eq belt had returned suddenly overnight!!

    Thanks chaps

Alsetalokin - yes, the FS-102 was a ripper scope and I miss it dearly. I'm super-looking forward to updating to the TSA-120 or maybe an FSQ-106. The TSA's 900mm (672mm with reducer) is right in the middle of my scope of interest (pardon the pun).

    Wow Chris,

That's another great shot (with a moon shadow too?)

Now I just got to figure out how to tell George that I want one of those Takahashi scopes! lol

Thanks so much Carol - your comments are very much appreciated!

The great thing about good optics (both the Tak scope and the Televue 5x) is that you can generally push them further before image degradation sets in.
