Default Stellarium Scope, Stellarium and Telescope Control

Has anyone been successful using StellariumScope on a Macbook?

I'm hoping it's more accurate than the goto computer on my ETX125.

Both the Mount-based or Software-based GOTO Slews are subject to the Accuracy of your Star Alignment. Both work from a Database of Stars and Celestial Coordinates, applied to the Current Star Map developed in the Mount from your Alignment efforts.

The ETX125 has had a reputation of having a rather Large Slew Errors - related to the number of Drive Gear Teeth. This too could add to your Concerns for Slew Accuracy.

Only Plate Solving Software have a Chance of being More Accurate as this process is not dependent upon the Mount's Star Map.

You might try a dual boot on macbook? Read this article.
Or create a virtual machine with Windows OS or install Wine.

    Ciao,

I've tried Stellarium for Mac OS, but I cannot get it to add my telescope into the telescope control configuration. Very puzzling.

I reverted to the Windows version - 32 bit Windows 7 running on Parallels on my MacBook Pro. And it works like a champ. Same USB-to-RS232 converter and cable out to my Celestron NexStar 5i.

    YMMV

This release of StellariumScope is designed to use Stellarium 0.15.x. It may work with other versions of Stellarium but it has only been tested with 0.15.x (Win 64). This version appears to work with Windows 10 but I have only been able to test it with a simulator. If your current installation works "stick with it".

The major change in this version is the setup of Stellarium options on the command line. This is of particular interest if you need these option to address graphic card issues and need to start Stellarium with an option.
