    Very nice sketch of M17.
    You are a fan of spikes?
    In a way I follow the same procedure as described in the link. I sketch with pencil on white paper. Than I take the photo. It must be inverted and made black and white, since it is photographed under Tungsten light. The rest is basically the same.

    Yes I do enjoy the spikes, I mostly use a Newtonian scope so am used to seeing them in the eyepiece too.
