    Default MW Sketch.

In an effort to improve my sketching skills I decided to tackle a tough(for me) sketch since it's been overcast most of the weekend.

I had a photograph that I took of the MW using my DSLR at a dark sky site and using that as my reference image I attempted to scratch out something similar.
Not the nicest or most accurate sketch of all time but the idea is to improve my sketching and I think I am on the right track.

The big problem is photographing the sketch and getting it resemble what my eye sees when the sketch is front of me, I have 30 odd images that I took and had to settle on one, I am still not happy with it, seems to be too much contrast and I am reluctant to use PS to fix matters other than downsizing for the forum.
You can still see the sketch pad rings bindings in the image .

This is black and white pastel on A4 black sketch paper.
Saturn is just below center in the image, the slightly oblong one, as it was taken almost two years ago.

Sure appreciate your thoughts and any useful or constructive advice would be great.

    The image I used.

    And the sketch.

Sorry again for the poor quality photo of the sketch.

    Thanks for taking a look.

Wow, Clinton! That is a very nice sketch!

I have nothing constructive to add as I have trouble making two ends of a line meet. I like what you've done here, though, very much.

Like others, no sketching skill here, so no basis for comment other than it looks great visually! How long did it take you to produce that beauty!?!

I took roughly three hours on this Dave, with the occasional break to stretch the legs.
