Those sketches are marvelous, Cindy. They really capture the spirit of the event for me, as do your words. It was an incredible sight, no, an incredible experience, truly once in a lifetime. Our entire group was slack jawed as the corona popped into view and more than one tear was shed.

Your sketch does a better job of bringing out the feel of the moment than any photo I have seen. The photos all sit against a stark black background, while your sketch does a better job of capturing the deep blue that was on display.

Thanks for your efforts, they have evoked feelings in me that are stronger than my reaction to the photos I have seen, including my own.

Thank you all for your kind words.

Bob, thank you for your heartfelt comments, it is amazing to think that many of us shared this amazing experience to have for a lifetime. When I look up at the Sun in the morning I marvel it is the that same Sun.

    Wonderful account Cindy!
I already bared my soul here so here's the link:
It was the Best of Times. It was the Worst of times.....

I'd gladly share my images but 139/141 of them are empty black frames.....easy to sketch though
The 2 "good ones" are practice shots pre-eclipse.....

Awesome sketches. I so wish I could sketch my observations better then I can. My sketches looks like a 5 year old drew them. LOL

    Thanks Vince & Rick,

Rick, you said it. An amazing unforgettable sight. I still find its hard to think about much else.

Vince, sketching really is like anything else that seems difficult at first, keep working at it and it will improve.

    Cindy -
Thanks for sharing your beautiful sketches, and especially your story! I'm late to this thread since today is my first day back at the computer after my post-eclipse journey up into the Dakotas.

You saw more detail in the corona than I did, as I was viewing through a thin wisp of hazy clouds. I WAS struck by the almost neon pink color of those prominences!

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Thanks Jay, glad you got to observe it even if through some clouds. Yes, the color of the proms certainly was more pink than red. Not what I expected.
