Smile Dark site report part 2.

I have had 3 nights of clear skies. Mostly the seeing has been good to very good. The nights have started of at about +3 and quickly fell to about -3"c by 03.00 UTC. Cloud has ranged from non existence to light haze at high altitude.

Last night I had a good view of Saturn and a couple of her moons. Viewed with 25mm,15mm, and 9mm. Looks great sober Am experimenting with lots of photography. Got more precise polar alignment done. Went hunting for some Messiers objects. M31 looks so different in a dark sky setting. Got some nice images there. ( I hope) M87, M86, and I think M85 were bagged.

What was really satisfying about tonight was the fact that I got all these fuzzies bang in the middle of my 40mm eye piece. Real pleased with that. This wedge is proving to be most valuable and not to bothersome in setting up. At 03.00 UTC I nabbed the Hercules cluster. This was just one more highlight of the night. Was about to begin imaging it when a bank of cloud moved in and I took this as my cue to pack up. Was very happy with the viewing and equally happy with the way all the equipment seems to be working well. I also need to better learn the stars in the sky. I feel quite over whelmed with a dark sky view as opposed to what I normaly see in light polluted Dublin. Feel quite lost looking up here some times

Found other objects which I must research and find out what they are called!!! But a truely brilliant time so far.
