Default AL Special Award - Apollo Anniversary

This may not be the right forum for posting this, but thought it would be the best place to get maximum visibility for this Astronomical League Special Award: https://www.astroleague.org/programs...s-introduction. Moderators please move if you feel more appropriate somewhere else.

"The Astronomical League has been working with NASA to bring you Observing Challenges. These are opportunities to participate in events associated with space missions to objects within the Solar System. These challenges have certificates signed by the Astronomical League President and Director of NASA Planetary Science. New opportunities will be added as new milestones for various missions occur."

    Apollo 50th Anniversary Requirements:
    - Participants may either image or observe and sketch the six landing sites.
    - Do an outreach event related to the Apollo Missions. Include the date, time, and location of this event in the same email to the coordinator.
    - Using these attached forms, submit your observations and images, plus the details of your outreach event, by the deadline (August 31, 2019), to the coordinator.

Note: You do not need to be a member of the Astronomical League to receive this certification.

    Sounds like fun!

I already have an Apollo outreach event scheduled in July, and plan on showing off the lunar landing sites through my telescope, so this will just be the icing on the cake! Thanks, Dave!

I talked to the Director of the Culpeper County Library today and laid out plans to commemorate the anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing. Our plans include:

    - A display of astronomy books, focusing on the Moon, at the library starting in June
    - A presentation on the Moon at our 24 June Culpeper Astronomy Club meeting; will include discussion of the six Apollo landing sites
    - Observing sessions in front of the library and at Morning Calm Observatory devoted to viewing of the six sites

That's our plan. Would be interested in knowing if any of you are going to provide some outreach!
