Default First report in 5 years.

It's been a long while since I have posted a report. You would have to go back to 8-12-2012! Anyway, I got off work at 1030 tonight and the sky was full of twinkling dots! The last few weeks have been miserable with clouds and storms. I got home and out went the XT10. First Jupiter. 17mm eyepiece, could clearing see the bands. Seeing that planet never gets old. Sat with him for about 15 minutes. Second targets M81 and 82. 32mm Q70, fit both galaxies in the field of view. Both were a good brightness, not much detail, fuzzy ball and fuzzy line, still an amazing sight! Next, Ring Nebula. 32mm Q70 to find it, switch to 17mm to view. Nice smoky ring. Down to M56. 32mm to locate, and back in with the 17mm. Little fuzzy ball. Fairly bright, but, have seen it better. Down to Albireo. Easy split with the 17, nice yellow and blue. Down again and I'm at M71. Again, a nice little fuzz ball, no stars resolved. Next M13. 32mm to locate and 17mm to view. Beautiful cluster, bright and nice resolved stars. Next up to M92. Again, a nice cluster, with stars resolved. Next I tried to locate M10, no success. M12? Nope. I have only been able to view them with my 8SE. For some reason I just cant find them manually. Finally, with the wind picking up and seeing getting bad, I quickly swept over to Saturn. Easily centered with the 17mm. Atmosphere was turbulent so it was had to make out much detail. Rings came in and out of focus. Til next time, CLEAR SKIES!!

Fine report! Good to see you back in action! That was a very nice tour of the sky! Keep 'em coming when you can. The more reports the better.

Thanks for the report. You took a long break, but I'm sure it was well worth it to get out under the stars again.

Nice report - it's always nice to get out under the stars. Hopefully this wasn't your first session in 5 years, if it was you have my sympathy. Looking up feeds the soul!
