    Default Galaxies galore

    Eyepiece 82ES24 in 12.5 f4.8 dob

    3-26-17
    VBAS, no moon

M93 — 2040 — NEW OC: I see two red stars, like eyes. Pattern looks like a cat w/ his tail straight up, stopping in his tracks looking square at me. Really nice, easy hop from xi Pup
    M65/66 — 2050 — Gal: needed my imagination to see 3628.
    Mel111 — 2100 — Wide cluster, used 7x35 binocs

    3-28-17
    VBAS, No moon

Cor Caroli — 2059 Double star: split double easily with ES24mm
C29 — 2056 — nice object, faint, made sketch of star pattern for ref.
    M63 — 2107 — Gal: Large, faint; a star embedded within.
M106 — 2115 Gal: pretty bright once I found it. made sketch.

    3-31-17
    VBAS, no moon.
3626 (C40) — 2100 — Gal: Faint, fuzzy wth several other galaxies in same FOV.
    3607, 3608, 3605: wow
    M100 — 2120 — Gal: Clear and Large.
M85 — 2140 — Gal: Large; unmistakable, once I saw it. Sketch of star pattern for reference.
    4394 — 2140 — Gal: Same FOV as M85.
M58 — Faint, fuzzy, another gal right next to it.
M59 — 2354 — Gal: Not as arg or bright as M60, same FOV
M60 — 2354 — Gal: Large Fuzzy bright center much brighter than halo, not stellar. Unable to see 4647.
NGC 4667 — 0011 — Gal: clearly vis, nice group with M60, 59. Isosceles triangle.
4647 — 0011 — Gal: Finally saw faint glow, averted vis.
    M64 — 0020 — very bright, easily noticeable.
    M13 — 0101 — Glob: Resolved to core.

    4-1-17
    VBAS, Public observing session.
    12.5 Dob
    Crescent moon.
M108 — 2100 — Gal: Started from Beta Uma, easy Hop. Owl neb same FOV.
    Comet 41P - Tuttle-Giacobini-Kresak
Short hop from alpha Draconis. V. Faint. Took quite some time to find and confirm the star patterns. Once we were sure, we were able to convince ourselves that we saw it. It seemed to be half imaginary at best. NPB helped. Sketch of star pattern. Several of us were able to see it.
M84 — 2254 — Gal: well faint fuzzy, near ‘the eyes’, but further from them than M86.
M86 — 2254 — Gal: Same FOV as ‘the eyes’.
    4435 — 2254 — Gal: Same FOV as above
4438 — 2254 — Gal: Same FOV as above. It look a bit of effort to convince myself which eye was which, but I felt I needed to do so to take credit for the kill.
M87 — 2302 — Gal: Faint fuzzy, drop down from the eyes, same FOV

Current tally of Messier objects: 63.

Need to take a break for the moon. Two weeks.

    Hello Don,

    thanks for reporting your observations.
You might consolidate your observing logs into an Excel spreadsheet - the easy way, noting place, date, eventually time location (like backyard), equipment used, observing conditions, and a short description of the view through the eyepiece.

Looking forward to more reports from you,

    JG
