Default Completing the 100 objects on the Moon

Well, that's that. 100 objects on the Moon finished! I used TLAO mostly, it is brilliant for the purpose, with descriptions of what to see too, not just names and arrows. In this last quarter I saw Kepler, Aristarchus and Herodatus, the former two making a triangle with Kopernicus. Marius Hills and Marius crater were fun to find, Flamsteed and Hansteen showed me immense submerged craters full of basalt and hardly rising. Grimaldi and Gassendi were still dark inside, at the end of the Moon Mare Humorum and Mare Insularis were the last seas to be seen.

TLAO draws attention to also go back on the previous parts of the Moon and see craters that could hardly be seen in other phases turn bright white and screaming now, it's how I found Menelaus, Manilius and Proclus. Another few craters made up the 100 objects that I wanted to catalogue, I will not catalogue further So now I am kinda ok with the Moon, I will not get lost on it if I ever get there.

It was fun to read TLAO, I kinda finished the whole thing, excepting variable stars, which I don't view. Thanks, Consolmagno guy.

That sounds like a very interesting project. Congratulations on the milestone. I guess I'll have to stop avoiding Luna all the time, and take a look.

Yep, I know, I hate it too, but it's quite beautiful once you decide to look at it. THe vast openness, all the different types of objects... ANd for example we would jump on the chance to see for instance Ganymede, or Callisto, tht close up. Why do we avoid our own Moon?

Dang, nice going, Milan. That's a bunch of stuff to log on the Moon.

One of these days, I'll dive into it as well. Can't beat 'em, join 'em, eh?

Nice going Milan. Last year I caught 100 lunar targets too, following the Astroleague list at

Most challenging was catching the waning crescent in the early morning, within 48 hours of new moon.

Well done Milan. Though I have a great deal of disdain for the moon, in as much as it interferes with what I prefer to be looking at, I congratulate you on your lunar century mark!
