Default Very dark & clear night last night

Driving home from Dallas, out in the boonies, we saw some very dark skies. I had my boyfriend take a quiet exit and we gazed for about 5 minutes. Was absolutely breathtaking! Never saw so many stars. It was so dark and clear we could easily make out the interstellar dust of the Orion arm. Must of been great before the industrial revolution looking up at the skies.

Nice. I myself am looking forward to getting to a dark site this year. Have never been to one. My travels through the years has usually been to lp areas.

That's exactly what I told my boyfriend at the time: "Dang, I wish I would of brought the binoculars!". I think I'll keep them in the trunk with my Manfrotto Bogen Tripod.

We like to vacation in New Mexico and Arizona, and we prefer to drive it from our home in Kansas City. Like Bigzmey, we take a binocular (7x50 Steiner) just in case. Night skies SW Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas panhandles, and NE New Mexico are quite dark, and we try to make a point to pull off and enjoy if we're out there late.
