I was out until 01:30, off and on while attending to an imaging run. I saw two meteors. I had a camera set up with a wide-angle lens, taking 90 minutes worth of exposure time in 5 minute and 2 minute frames. It didn't catch a single one.

Glad to read this morning that some sightings were made. I am in Charlotte, NC and I went out about 2:15am EST as I had the scope still out from earlier Jupiter and Mars viewing with my son and his friends. Skies were fairly clear with just some high patchy thin clouds. I stayed out until about 3:45am EST and saw not a one. I did get to view Jupiter in the scope though so at least that was nice. I finally pulled the plug on the scope and went for some well needed sleep!

I read multiple reports for times ranging from 10:30- 4 am... So I was out at 10:30, 11:30, Midnight through 1 and 3 am through 4 and saw absolutely nothing. I was very disappointed.

I had the plan of having an all nighter but, with what I was viewing and at the very limited intensity "I packed in around 330am. Since the conditions were far from shower viewing "I was able to view some of the brightest and largest fragments streaking between the verticle clouds. It was definately a disappointment but, seeing the big one and the brightness of it was a real treat. I just wish I could've had better conditions. Till next time

Well, even though it did not live up to some predictions, a night under the stars still is better than staring at a TV! The best shower I personally ever witnessed was the Perseid shower back in the 70's. I told my older brother about the shower that afternoon and we sat in the yard most of the night. We were able to track 62 in one hour at best. The brightest I ever witnessed was a random that my observing buddy and I happened to see one night while we were driving down a dark country road. It traveled most of the way across the sky and was bright enough to cast light into the car. It also had the longest tail I have ever seen.

I am right now trying to observe the meteor shower.
    Local time 8:10 PM.
It is not fully dark yet.
Hoping to catch a few of those meteors.

Well, I'm glad it wasn't just a bust for me too. I went out like most starting at 930 until 4am and saw not a single one. I would have spent time imaging, but it was just enough 'cloudy' to make it not worth it. Kind of a bummer, but what can you do?

Maybe one day I'll see my first meteor!
