    Charles: Thanks very much for the info on the Desert View overlook. I know of a place right on the S1 where you can pull off that overlooks the desert, but that must not be the place you are describing since you described a paved access road. I’ll have to look into that. It definitely sounds interesting.

    Alan: Thanks very much for Identifying that open cluster in the M24 Star Cloud. That is it. ...so it’s called NGC 6603 or CR 374. I have seen it so many times and wondered what it was.

    Great Report Sam! I lived in San Marcos for years and never made it up to Mt. Laguna. I'm in Raleigh, NC working on a construction project and it has been raining for the last 40 days. Coming home for the weekend, maybe the skies will be clear and I'll make a run up to Joshua Tree for an evening.Clear skies,Bob
