Default alrodriguez - Messier 30 Hunt

Hi folks. I'm starting this thread to report my progress in my messier 30 hunt. I don't have a telescope yet so I'll try to do it with my 10x50 binoculars. I don't have any idea how much time this task will take but I hope have some fun. Wish me luck. Clear skies.

Here are my 3 first objects:

M7 - Very easy to find. A huge number of bright stars well resolved. My first one. Date:08/14/2012 - Time: 18:45 -3 UTC.

M6 - Easy to find but no to resolve with my bino. In this condition a spot is what I can see. Neighbor of M7. Date: 08/14/2012 - Time: 19:35 -3 UTC

M15 - Pretty hard to find. It took 25 minutes in the dark to see a little spot in a global form. I intend to see it again in better conditions. Date: 08/14/2012 - Time: 21:45 -3 UTC

Well done on your first 3 Messier's then.

Just 2 nights ago I looked at both M7 and M6 with my 10x50's. I thought M6 was quite bright and was able to resolve a dozen or so stars.

Most globulars are only a faint blob in my bino's so well done on M15.

    Good luck with your hunt!

    Great start for binoculars.

Hope you get your telescope soon. I'm sure you're looking forward to that. Though, believe it or not, there are some who have done (or are currently doing) all 110 Messier objects with binoculars only.

    Clears,

Thanks Joe. I'll try with binoculars as far as I can. Until my sight limit. All the M110 it will be awesome, but one step at a time.

    Three more added:

M31: I spotted M31 easily. Even after a long time in the dark I couldn't get much details, unfortunately. Date: 08/15/2012. Time: 5:25 -3 UTC.

M45: Very beautiful. Many stars resolved easily. Somehow I saw stars in an "M" formation. Date: 08/15/2012. Time: 5:45 -3 UTC.

M5: Hard to find. Little spot in a global form. Date: 08/18/2012. Time: 20:05 -3 UTC
