Greetings to all Messier hunters. We are now announcing the next step in the visual Messier certificate program, the M70 ! The rules are the same as the m30 certificate. See link. Astronomy Certificate Visual Awards Program Apply Now!!!
To be eligible for the M70 you must have completed the M30 certificate. When applying for the award, please start a new thread with M70 certificate in the title. After the member has completed posting the objects, send a PM to both dmbryan http://www.astronomyforum.net/members/dmbryan.html, and jimt http://www.astronomyforum.net/members/jimt.html. Please include a link to the thread. A moderator will approve the posts with a follow up post. Thanks to everyone who has participated in the Messier awards here at AF.net. It is great to see the progress of astronomers around the world. So grab your scopes and get hunting for the next 40 Messier objects. We are looking forward to your reports. Clear skies.

Hello all,
M70 visually is a great idea. I may retrieve it from my log book, however the time of observation has not been noted - however, typically 20:00 through 01:00 local time.
Thanks for promoting this activity,
JG

Great, now I need to figure out which other 30 images I must take to finish Messier 70. Btw, apart from Messier 30, shouldn't one also complete the Messier 40? Anyway, this is a really nice programme and I like it. I must hope for clear skies and get started.

Thanks Andy. I have pinned images of 40 Messier objects, so basically I need to capture another 30 to add to the 40, is this correct?
