Default Using some new "Toys" on a not bad night

New Toys Tonight and a mostly clear night to play:

    1) $7 Green Laser Pointer from Amazon.. -- Very cool. 5mw level. same power in theory as the Celestron laser finder.

After talking to my daughter about it not being a toy.. and never using it if there was a an air plane in the sky over the house.. we had a good night with it. She loves the scope.. but after we looked at Saturn and Wild Duck.. what I did was start drilling her on star names and she is picking them up. The laser for pointing to stars in the sky priceless for $7

    2) Video camera front T-Ring. Total bust.. tried it with both my DSLR T-Adapter and on the new Celestron 8-24. Never found a focus point Need to do some reading.

    3) Celestron 8-24mm Zoom EP $53!!!
Happy with it.. will post full thoughts in EP Forum.

    4) Repaired Power Tank 17 - Works as expected..Mode to Dim the red light too Dim for my wants.. may open it up and reverse the fix.

Also saw a couple more Messier objects .. need to start logging

There were many stray clouds.. but not a bad night compared to most of the summer here.

Here is my review of the Celestron 8-24mm Zoom

EP.. OK at 24mm, a real surprise at 8mm

I always use my 5mW astronomy laser for stargazing at night, and it is pretty awesome. I can have a free view of stars in the sky. It is wonderful.
