I understand the glassy-eyed stare. It was rather loooooonnnnngggggg.

I don't like dobs either - which is why I went for the lx90 8" - I can handle it easy enough and it points where I want it to.
Yup, in this age astronomy is optional. We should encourage people to get what they like even if it would not suit us quite as much.

Much like a guy, it goes where its told and does what is required of it and kinda looks nice too.

I kinda resemble that remark - except for the "looks nice" thing. . . Women really do control the men - they just sometimes let us think that we're in charge. The man who thinks he is in charge is almost always foolishly deluded. The man who really is in charge is a fool.

You were very kind to set that up even when you were tired - how sweet you are.
I hope you got a nice hug later.
Thank you for the sentiment. She deserves more - she's been putting up with me for over 3 decades. And yeah, I got a hug.

I have to say that most of us are not as "scientifically bent" - but don't you dare to be paternalistic -or you'll get a 2" Wide angle EP thrust where the sun don't shine! (that'll give you averted vision for a while, I can assure you!)
i dont think they are beying chauvinistic, i think its just the oposite.
They just want to have one more thing they can share with their wife, a passion that their partner will share with them.

My gf isnt much into astronomy either, but the other day when i got the telescope she of course wanted to take a look too, it made me happy thinking she might want to get into astronomy, because it will be one more thing we will have in common, and of course, id like to have her as a companion in the future outdoor nights observing the skys!
