    Default Another clear-sky night

A curse in disguise, two weeks of clear nights and I can't help it but go out and observe from 9 to 2 a.m., in bed at 3 and up at 6 to go to work. I'm tired! ..... but am NOT complaining really. Last night got a couple more "firsts" for me: M72 and M73 (thank you Rob), and a mag 12.8 NGC galaxy (that I need for a project). After finally seeing Jupiter's great red spot for the very first time in my life last week, I got a second view of it last night! It was around 12:30 and the GRS was rotating away from view not far from the planet's edge, so I just caught it on time before it disappeared. I also managed a second sighting of the elusive quasar BL Lac, no more than a dim flicker at the limit of visibility. Spotted Neptune and Uranus, first time this year. I often end the night viewing some easy and pleasing double stars, like cooling down after a race (I imagine, because I don't race). Polaris, Almach, and eta Cass all looked divine at the extremely low power of 45x in the 115mm refractor: it was soothing and relaxing, I love to end the nights like that.
