Default SN 2019 ein in NGC5353

I see this being reported on across a few other forums.
At the current magnitude it is beyond my scope/LP combination.

Hopefully a few of you might catch this one.

I learned about it two days ago also. But with two days of rain and clouds, and last night the Moon was blaring out 'No way, dude', I'll try to catch it some other night... I hope.

This one is fairly bright. I was able to catch it with my 600mm refractor and 2430mm RC. I'll post some images soon.

Thanks Clinton. For those interested, this lenticular is at visual magnitude 11.0, with a size of 2.2'x1.1', yielding a surface brightness of 11.8 mag/arcmin2. At its listed mag of 13.2 it should be in reach of many folks. I shall have to give it a try at some point when the moon gets out of the way to make visual detection easier.

The galaxy is part of the Hickson Compact Galaxy Group #68, which is one of the brighter Hickson groups.

FYI, here is a chart I made in Sky Tools 3 showing its position in the field of HCG 68. The field lies nearly 7° east of 20 CVn (mag 4.7) toward the border with Bootes. Good luck to anyone attempting it.

NGC 5353 (part of Hickson 68) is hosting bright supernova 2019ein. Approximately magnitude 14 when I caught it, this one might be visible visually with a large telescope under dark skies. These images were taken the same night with a 75% moon near.

From my driveway with a refractor:
