Default Bright Moon in Austin, TX

And a crystal clear sky. I think I'll take my 8" SCT out and look at some "seas" and craters. I need to try out my new 50mm RACI that my wife bought me for Christmas. Somewhere under the tree is a red-dot reflex finder, too, but I think I'll leave that alone for now.

If I walk across the seas of Serenity and Tranquility, I will find myself in the Sea of Fertility. After that, I'm surely taking a left turn to the Sea of Crisis.

I will be thinking of those first astronauts 50 years that went around the moon and saw the Earth rise over the moon's horizon for the first time by any human. Earthrise has always inspired me.

Best regards, and clear, dark skies to all, as they try out new equipment in this Christmas season.

I am looking at the full Moon right now, but our sky is far from clear. Has been foggy all week. Moon looks great in 8" SCT. I like to use Orange #21 or Light Red #23A filters. They make Moon futures pop.

Only clouds over Mesa AZ. I should have taken the scope out last night, but I didn't so here I sit. Time to open a bottle of wine and get got up with the going's on, on our form.

Russell, Bigzmey, I'm envious. I got about three minutes of Moon time tonight, before I got clouded out. I hope you get some great views.
