Default Bought 12" Meade Dobsonian, then moved across country numerous times and lost parts

yes sad but true. I don't have but one eyepiece and I cant see the moon with it. The sighting scope is missing!

What is the best way to replace the sighting scope? Just call Meade and pay the bucks? When it was on the scope, it was positioned improperly in the factory and never would line up properly. I always sighted, then adjusted quite a bit by moving where I thought the scope should be - still could see nebulae.

What are the best lens replacements? What about the Amazon site: https://smile.amazon.com/Meade-Instr...ct_top?ie=UTF8

I was a complete newbie when I bought this about 9 years ago, then it went into storage and moved all over the country. A friend recently helped me to get it colimated. The mirror is in good condition. Would be nice to get this thing running. I used to enjoy it.

Rather than getting another finder scope, you might consider getting a reflex sight like a Telrad. I'm on my second dob and I've always had good luck with them. You can also find lots of Telrad star charts that can really help with star hopping.

    Good luck.

A Telrad and RACI finder make a great combination for starhopping!
You do not have to go to Meade for a replacement if you want a new finder, any Astro shop carries different kinds and sizes.
The Meade kit is a bit better than some for the eyepiece quality but the coloured filters are a bit of a waste.
